    if  jonah is only making a “strange” statement then he is improving since stupid is his stock and trade. he just doesn’t want to see that  certain drugs have much harsher penalties then  other (crack vs powder), poor people have far less access to legal services and drug treatment  and blacks are punished harsher then others.

    i cut out a bunch of other stuff i was going to say because i am cranky and would sound nasty. however a significant part of the right spends an inordinate amount of time trying to explain away the glaringly obvious racial disparities in this country. to give jonah his due at least he isn’t going with the classic blame the victim strategy.Report

    In my defense, I bent over backwards to be gentler to Goldberg than he probably deserves on this because the one (accidental and very indirectly stated) nugget of wisdom in his post allowed me to start exploring a point that I’ve been wanting to explore for a very long time, to wit: the issue of uniform enforcement of the law.Report
