    The size of government, small or large, should be equal to the task of excercising its limited powers. The limit on power is more important than size. Having said that, as for taxes, it’s my opinion that taxes on business are what we should be concerned about if employment is also a concern. There are rumblings from some companies which are capable of mobility, that if healthcare, cap and trade and other burdens continue, they may move their operations — this could have a snowball effect if it becomes a question of competitive edge.Report

    Yeah, that’s one of the differences between us, I think. I am a college graduate – but most people I know are not, my last long term job was at a pizzeria, and I have never ever paid income taxes. (Now, my father pays quite a lot, but that’s only relevant if you’re going to accuse me of being a slumming rich kid, which is to say not at all). This, I think is part of the problem: because of what jobs are available, people like us are competing for the same low-skill positions as people without degrees, as are people with degrees and decades of experience.Report
