Poem for Monday

by Dale Forguson

A Corner Turned

In a moment fundamental

With breath abated

Too still to turn the page

The thought in stasis

Undefined, unknowable

Passes softly

Understanding withered in a glance

A moment’s indecision declined

And yet

I sit and wait

I wait quietly

I sit and wait

quietly for you

knowing you will not

  1. Dale, my response is to think of all those times I long for the company of Calliope, or one of their sisters, to find that they’re all engaged elsewhere.

Perhaps you had someone mortal in mind.

  2. Sometimes what I write is left intentionally ambiguous, incomplete until the reader gives it meaning. Even when we try to be precise, communication can be a fragile, elusive thing.
