An Art Review Becomes Itself a Work of Art

I’m not usually a big fan of the countless movie-clip montages that are so prevalent on the internet these day.  To me, they mostly seem either a little uninspired (Scenes from hit summer movies of 2013!) or a wee bit too esoterically deconstructed (My favorite actors of the 70s in scenes where they wave to the camera!).

But I have to say I love this one from Plot Point Productions, which I came upon in one of the Dish’s Mental Health Breaks.  It’s a collection of the final visual images in various movies, and the video is stunning.  I’m not sure I’d ever noticed until now just how important it is to directors to have the last thing you see in a movie be itself a work of art.  Better still, the team that crafted this montage have created a new, singular thing of beauty.  I was surprised at the range of emotions it drew from me.

A surprisingly moving work, and you’d be doing yourself a favor to watch it.
