Hmmm…despised songs of holiday content. Near the top of my list is Springsteen’s rendition of “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town”. However, I feel nearly as revulsed when hearing about 90% of his recorded work. The man was _never_ remotely_ my “Boss”.

On the other hand, one I’ve liked since I first heard it has a haunting appeal I never found in the traditional arrangement. That is “Little Town of Bethlehem” done to the tune of “House of the Rising Sun”. The first link is by Bob Rivers, who had a radio show in the 90’s & early 00’s out of Seattle, he does a mean Eric Burdon impression. The second is by The Joy Strings, a bit older than the Rivers cover; they were apparently a group started by Salvation Army members.

    Enjoy
