    Sorry, I can’t buy that this is your best effort. You’re usually quite good at Opposite Day posts, studiously avoiding the temptation to do a parody of the opposing argument rather than the best version of it you can render. (I’ve always admired you for this, as I openly admit to never having been able to identify a topic where I could do an Opposite Day post with the kind of charity that the exercise calls for.)

    Here, though, you fall headfirst into the parody trap. It’s so bad, in fact, it almost seems like you took a conscious decision to be the opposite of your usual highly magnanimous Opposite Day self, and leap headlong into the parody approach intentionally, though I don’t think you actually did that. Rather, a departure this dramatic from your usual Opposite Day generosity suggests me you’re dealing with a really strong prejudice that is part of your motivation for your real position that is rarely present in your usually highly rational approach to analysis. Perhaps, though, you’re just very out of practice; it’s been a while since we’ve done Opposite Day.Report
