I’d have let the guy sleep, too, and only made light conversation for a few minutes before landing. I’m sure the dude is exhausted all the time. Plus, it looks like it was a red-eye flight and the etiquette for such a thing is to let your fellow passengers sleep. All the same — where were the Senator’s minions? Back in coach?

I struggle to envision a worse environment for productive political ‘engagement’ than the crowded and relatively stressful experience of air travel. Starting an argument in the air like that is just incredibly obnoxious, and not just to the hapless target, but everyone in the vicinity. The only ‘good’ it might do is feed one’s smug sense of self-importance.Report
