    Happy birthday week Jaybird!

On Sunday morning, Fledermaus is heading out of town for a couple of weeks on a show residency.

We’ll go to a housewarming party (yay!) for some good friends who just moved from their old place a block from us, to a new one about 2 1/2 km away (boo!). I may or may not go out dancing after that. I asked Fledermaus but she understandably wants a good night’s sleep before she heads out.Report

The best thing about flying 9 timezones East on my birthday was that I had the 2nd shortest birthday of my life (second only to the one where I missed the first six hours or so gestating).

Goodluck to Fledermaus and Betterluck to you being stuck at home.Report

We’ve been fighting off illness for the last week. Lain has already missed two days of preschool. It seems like I got sick first, then Lain, then Clancy, and now me again. It’s just jumping around from one of us to the next. (Though, I suspect that Lain got the bug and carried it into the house).

I’ve been trying to work my email apps on Android to my satisfaction. One of them (K9) is failing to properly format some League Editor emails. The other (Kaiten) doesn’t have proper unread badging. Leaving me trying to decide between two imperfect apps.

I watched Back to the Future II on BTTF Day, and went back and watched the first the day after. I am now ready to see the third, which I have not yet seen.

Clancy is trying to get caught up on paperwork (as always) so less down time.Report

Since I have a nine nines schedule, my weekend started today. I finally got that annoying, very tiny leak in my roof fixed. When the remnants of Patricia hit tomorrow, I’ll be able to test it.

Might put a bit of a damper on my son’s birthday (19 years, lord where does the time fly), but at least being 19 means he gets “Yeah, we’ll have to do it in two weeks or something” when the sky has opened up.

The rest of the weekend? More books to sort out, laundry to do, and the usual pile of stuff I’ve put off too long.Report

    Happy Birthday.

I went to a great Chinese restaurant called House of Pancakes yesterday.

Bridge of Spies did not happen last weekend, maybe it will happen this weekend. The Godfather is showing tomorrow at the Castro and I need to think about a Halloween thing to wear. I have some ideas.

I am going to Singapore in December to meet my girlfriend’s family and need to start thinking about gifts. I was told the nephew needed to be impressed the most. I am thinking Lego. What is a good lego set? My family has largely stopped during Holiday gifts.Report

Dude, my nephew’s birthday party (family version) is tomorrow and I am going out to pick up some Legos today. I originally thought “who doesn’t like the X-Wing?” and then saw that it’s A HUNERT AND FIFTY DOLLARS!!!!!

So maybe we’ll get him the B-Wing.

Also, here’s another thing that I’m doing and I recommend it for you as well: I will also be getting a decoy present that has socks and underwear in it. That will be the first present he opens.

You should totally do that for the nephew.Report

Happy Birthday. I’m going to a friend’s birthday tonight. First Korean BBQ and than a good bar at bad time called the Gingerman. It has a very extensive beer collection but it gets filled fast with stock market types. I keep telling my friends you need to go during drunk hours.

Sunday is library and laundry day. Typing from dentist.Report

    Happy birthday Jay!

My mother and her husband are in the country now, so this weekend is my turn for a visit. The wife will be making spagetti and there will be much talking of books (this is about all that we have in common.)Report

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 🙂 I just LOVE birthdays! I celebrate mine twice a year, a week or so in both July and December.

I took a job at the same auto group I was working sales in, but now I work Monday through Friday and only 45 hours a week. I don’t know what I’ll do with all this extra free time, but today I’m working job #2 and birthday shopping. My friend had his birthday yesterday and my son’s is in a few weeks, so I’m hitting up the Nike employee store in town. Tomorrow I’m packing. 🙁 I don’t want to move out of Portland proper.Report

Happy Birthweek or whatever. Between my time in the Navy and now being out on the road for three or four weeks at a time we’ve been kickin’ stuff to the right pretty much forever.

So I’m out on the road this weekend (as usual), but I’m sitting in the passenger seat as my student drives. I mentioned this in one of Glyph’s music threads awhile back but I’ll repeat it here, I’ve started mentoring new drivers. Basically I take a new driver fresh out of school out on the road for a month or so before they get assigned to their own truck.

I was also just informed on Monday that I achieved Diamond ranking. Sort of a big deal: bigger quarterly bonus and the company buys me a new truck of my choice and emblazons it with a big diamond on both sides. So, big fish in a little pond or whatever.Report
