Sorry, last week was a crazy week and I was working 12s and I didn’t remember to write my weekend post then.
It would have been about Daylight Saving Time, though, and how evil it was and how good it was that it was ending. However temporarily.
Daylight Saving Time is behind us, though, however temporarily and now we can get into the whole “man! I can’t believe how dark it is already!” thing. Seriously, Colorado Springs has the front range over there and when the sun hits the mountains it’s *GONE* a few minutes later. Completely different from when we’d visit Muskeegon, Michigan in the summertime and the sun would set and it would take *HOURS* to fully immerse itself within Lake Michigan.
But it’s nice to go to work when it’s light, and come home when it’s dark.
As it is, though, we’ve had Standard Time for a week and I’m pretty much caught up and no longer jet-… what’s the opposite of “lag”? I’m no longer jet-hastened?
Well, having reached a new normal, of sorts, I’m looking forward to the weekend. I’ve already purchased a bottle of something and brought the first wave of the dirty laundry downstairs to be sorted tomorrow prior to it being laundered and dumped out on the bed as part of the autumnal switch of summer and winter fashion.
“Wait, I thought you did that three weeks ago?”
“Yes. Well. Life comes at you fast. We had a bit of a heat wave that had us sleeping with the window open and going to work in short sleeves. We’ve hit the part of the year where, now, we only crack the window and go to work in zip-up hoodies first thing in the morning.”
And so now we’re going to officially transition into fall, officially get ready for the coming holidays, and officially take a three day weekend because, seriously, last weekend was seriously crazy and by “seriously crazy”, I mean “working a 10 on Thursday, a 14 on Friday, and a 5 on Saturday” kinda crazy. So my accumulated hours have turned into a day off without having to use a vacation day.
And I’m going to spend it doing nothing worth writing about at all. Well, maybe waking up an hour later than I’m used to followed by doing laundry.
So… what’s on your docket?
