Sam Wilkinson

According to a faithful reader, I'm Ordinary Times's "least thoughtful writer." So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

I just wanted this song, over and over and over. And so it was to be, as I have listened to this track roughly eleventy-billion times since first discovering it.

This happens to me several times a year, and it’s the most amazing feeling. If I’m driving home and listening to it in my car, I’ll pass my house and keep driving for miles before doubling back. If I’m out walking and listening to it through headphones, I’ll walk a crazy number of miles. If I’m cleaning the house, I’ll put it on repeat and listen to it while I’m working until the kids come upstairs and complain.

The best is when it’s a song from a new artist you have never heard before, and suddenly you have an album or two to explore. The really, really best is when it’s from an artist you hadn’t heard, and it turns out they have many, many albums to explore — though this is admittedly pretty rare for me these days. (The only time this has happened to me in recent memory was last year, when I discover Bob Schneider, who has had about a dozen songs that I subsequently discovered and played over and over again after the first time I heard them.)Report
