TV commercial film for Volkswagen Beetle "Funeral"

I started playing Diablo 3 again, Season Mode… but I mentioned this to a co-worker and he said that he wanted to start playing again, then another co-worker mentioned that *HE* wanted to start playing again… and, next thing you know, we’ve got a 4 man hardcore team running around in Diablo 3. A barbarian, a paladin, a monk, and a witch doctor.

I was the witch doctor.

We did pretty good. We beat the game proper, then started doing rifts and edging, slowly, toward Torment 1. Then Torment 2, then 4, then 6.

Torment 6 is where I ought to have stopped.

As it is, Torment 8 is where I did, in fact, finish my hardcore seasonal run for good. Level 70 (sub-181). What happened was that I was foolish. I got a set. A good set. One of the six-item sets… but it required that I change my build. So I changed my skills to a bunch of skills that I wasn’t familiar with but didn’t go back down to Torment 1 (or even lower). I, instead, ran with my hardcore gaming buddies.

Just as well, I suppose. The season was ending soon anyway. July or something.

And, next Tuesday, the next expansion for Diablo 3 comes out. “Rise of the Necromancer”. They’re bringing back the Necromancer from Diablo 2 to make him (or her) a playable character in Diablo 3 and giving you a handful of new areas to fight in and new content in the rift areas too. For only $14.99 USD.

I’m still kind of sore about my Witch Doctor, though.

So… what are you playing?

  1. I put Invisible Inc. on my wishlist per your suggestion and bought it when it went on sale this week. So far I kinda suck at it, but it’s been a lot of fun.

  2. We’re heading home from a week at the beach today. Per your suggestion we bought Ultimate Werewolf and the kids LOVED IT (ages 12, 14 and 18). Even Grandpa played with us and Grandma had fun watching us all do silly things with our eyes closed. We used the app, which really made it a lot easier. The kids seemed to really like the strategy part and fibbing to each other. And they managed to start fooling the adults, which delighted them to no end. Turned out to be a perfect game for a relaxed week where you don’t want any big time commitments. Thanks JB!

  3. A bit late on the Endless Space 2 train. So far, it’s Exactly What It Says On The Tin (tm TV Tropes). If you weren’t expecting:
    – 4x space game with all 4 Xs in play
    – most of the game systems not as abstract as in the first game but not quite as complex as you might like
    – a lot of design decisions driven by the shared-universe background rather than a universe simulator like e.g. Stellaris (tries to be)
    – deep lore and quest narrative for each race provides a vastly different feel for each, at the cost of the kind of breadth of possibilities that a lot of other games try to reach for
    – combat system encompassing Rock, Paper, and Scissors, albeit better-hidden than in the first game

Well, then you were expecting some other game, because that’s exactly what they promised and apparently exactly what they delivered.

    • Oh, and played an hour or so of Don’t Starve Together. I built a pickaxe and was killed by a frog. Directions are arbitrary when no one has a compass. It was fun.
