Question for the Day

by Chris Dierkes on May 12, 2009

Can someone explain to me why people dress their small children up in animal costumes (not on Halloween, throughout the year) and dress their pet animals up like people?  What is up with this phenomenon?

In the case of small children, it’s to make them look cute and cuddlier.

In the case of pets, it’s to personify them…because obsessive owners like to think of them as people.

Actually kids have a ton of fun dressing up. My daughter is only two and already loves to dress up as a princess or whatever. But dressing up dogs? I have no answer for you there.
