George R.R. Martin is not your bitch.

Well, it looks like HBO will begin shooting the pilot episode for George R. R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones in October in Northern Ireland.  I am gripped with excitement and trepidation.  And at least one character has been cast: Tyrion Lannister, who will be played by Peter Dinklage.

Oh, and remember, if you’re a reader of the unfinished Martin series and you’re upset at the extremely slow pace at which he writes (two wars were begun between book three and four) then keep it to yourself lest you face the wrath of Neil Gaiman.  (from wheom the title of this post was taken…)

God I love these books. I’ve put off reading the latest one until… now.

Thanks for the kick in the butt.

Yeah, it’s a long wait. But I bet it will be worth it.

Dork alert:

My first thought was that this was a reference to George Broussard… who, you may remember, had an ad campaign running up to the release of Daikatana consisting of the phrase “George Broussard is about to make you his bitch”.

And since Duke 4Ever’s company “3D Realms” closed recently (as in last week recently), I thought that this was kind of a shout out to that.

Anyhow, yeah, dork alert over.

They’re doing an American remake of Death at a Funeral? Really?

But yeah, great news that the pilot is going forward. “Gripped with excitement and trepidation” is about right… it would be all trepidation if the networks or a lesser cable channel were doing the adaptation, but with HBO you gotta believe there’s a fighting chance that they’ll create something truly great.

Even a movie would scare me to death – how can you fit that much into a movie? (I’m looking at youLOTR!) But with HBO – yes – there is a fighting chance….
