In their desire for Ahmadinejad to succeed, today’s neocons are in complete opposition to Reagan’s attitude towards the Soviet Union.
Actually I would say that applies to a bunch (if not the majority) of the neocons during Reagan’s term. Wolfowitz was spouting crazy theories about all international terrorism coming from Soviet Union. Perle was the one that blocked Reagan from going all the way on nuclear disarmament. While Reagan liked him some neocon talk, brother was far too realistic for those wackos. Same for his successor (George HW). Not so much the Bush II however.
