Nobel Peace Prize Jury Faces Formal Inquiry
Read the story here. Here’s the paragraph that would make clicking through worthwhile, if you’re still undecided:
If the Stockholm County Administrative Board, which supervises foundations in Sweden’s capital, finds that prize founder Alfred Nobel’s will is not being honored, it has the authority to suspend award decisions going back three years — though that would be unlikely and unprecedented, said Mikael Wiman, a legal expert working for the county. A Little Side Project of Mine
As if I needed another blog! This one’s dedicated to translating some of the never-before-translated work of the French neo-Romantic poet Edmond Rostand, author of Cyrano de Bergerac and member of the Académie française.
Everyone knows Cyrano, of course, but much of Rostand’s lyric work has never been read in English before. I’m trying to change that, one poem at a time. ( 7 comments)

Maybe you haven’t seen this?
heh.
also do I smell this thread turning into a windows v. apple war?
I’m surprised at how many people are looking so forward to Vista SP 2, otherwise known as Windows 7. Don’t get me wrong, I think most of Vista’s problems were taken care of with SP 1, between that and the software makers fixing their software to work properly under the new security framework. XP was nice, don’t get me wrong, but it had gotten to the point where viruses were exploiting things that could not be fixed. As an admin, I almost moved to upgrade to Vista just for that reason.
As for Mac and Linux, they are tools, suited some needs more so than others.
This is, basically true, but there have been some major interface improvements as well. Of course, these mostly consist of ripping features off from KDE or Mac, but as long as they work…
Also my now-deceased older computer still had quite a few problems with vista sp1. my understanding based on use is that 7 is actually somewhat lighter, but I could be mistaken.
In other words, lets talk about everything but… merit.
ps That was me satisfying my contractual obligation to fight for the side of MS.
Hey, if I could afford the upgrade I’d have my laptop on Windows 7 already. But we’re flat broke at the moment, as per usual…
I could watch the first one for 2’22″ before I started wanting to barf. Is that a record?
The second one reminded me that singing “I could have danced all night” with “danced” and some other words ( like “wings” and “heart”) bleeped out is rather fun.
