Predictably enough, Obama has attracted some nonsensical criticism for reiterating his support for the “one-China” principle. So it’s worth remembering that Bush not only opposed formally recognizing Taiwanese independence, he was actually criticized for being “soft on China.”

If you want to depress yourself, read the comments to that post. Not a person recognizes that this has been the policy of the United States since through both Democratic and Republican (including both Bushes) presidents. Pathetic.
