Nobel Peace Prize Jury Faces Formal Inquiry
Read the story here. Here’s the paragraph that would make clicking through worthwhile, if you’re still undecided:
If the Stockholm County Administrative Board, which supervises foundations in Sweden’s capital, finds that prize founder Alfred Nobel’s will is not being honored, it has the authority to suspend award decisions going back three years — though that would be unlikely and unprecedented, said Mikael Wiman, a legal expert working for the county. A Little Side Project of Mine
As if I needed another blog! This one’s dedicated to translating some of the never-before-translated work of the French neo-Romantic poet Edmond Rostand, author of Cyrano de Bergerac and member of the Académie française.
Everyone knows Cyrano, of course, but much of Rostand’s lyric work has never been read in English before. I’m trying to change that, one poem at a time. ( 7 comments)

Wow, that was bad. I’ve gotta show it to my brother immediately.
I expected that to be much, much more awful than it actually ended up being.
I’m not saying that he’s filling the void left by Grand Puba, mind… but I expected much, much worse.
That said, this is the Republican problem in a nutshell. I’m watching an amusing (if overly earnest) rap video complaining about the treasury, Congress, Truthers, and Pelosi… then devotes a verse to Social Conservativism. My “this is a surprisingly not unpleasant surprise” turned into “oh this again”. The conservatives turn on a dime from “hands off” to “hands on!” Complaining about social engineering on the part of the progressives, then start explaining how, no, we have to socially engineer like *THIS*.
But, for the record, I did laugh at the rhyming of “kill a baby” and “prayer in the navy”.
