Which probably explains why the new ones keep getting longer and longer. As far as ridiculously long musical monikers go, my favorites are “I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness” and the delightfully gothic-sounding “And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead.”
Borat: “I do a picture, only small, of the Tishnik Masacre. Where many Uzbeks…crushed!”
Kindly Gray Hippie: “How did you feel when you drew this?”
Borat: “Very proud!”.
KGH: “I’m just listening with sadness…a little sadness for your people…?”
Borat: “Yes…no, it is not sad. It is us who do the kill!”

When I was a kid, we just looked at the headlines.
“120 Trampled in Hajj Stampede”. HEY WE SHOULD CALL OUR BAND HAJJ STAMPEDE!!!
Looking at Drudge now, I see the following decent band names:
A Glitch for Every Gold
Woe, Canada!
Olympic problems and missteps
Stimulus saved us
Flash Mob Brawl
Cat Casserole
Historic Lows
D.C. Cherry Blossoms
Big Sis Swab Test
Too fat by 2020
Kids these days. I tell ya.
I’ll ad:
The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower
God is My Co-Pilot
Thinking Fellers Union Local 282
BTW, “Source Tags & Codes” by AYWKUBTTOD (or “the Trail of Dead” as they are usually called) is a 100% awesome album.
Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet
sorry for the typos (facepalm)
Agree 100% re: Source Tags and Codes.
No love for Godspeed You! Black Emperor?
Oof. Good catch, sidereal.
My favorite is “I Wrestled a Bear Once.”
Look them up. Wait. Don’t.
I’m partial to !!!.
After that my favorite band name has to be local South Florida nerdcore group Emergency Pizza Party.
Let’s not forget ‘Some day, all this will have to be fixed.’ Yeah, sorry, shameless plug for a fairly unserious musical project I had going for a few years.
I would suggest also, Preston School of Industry, My Dad vs. Yours, The Department of Foreign Affairs and Amos the Transparent as odd but awesome band names (and fantastic bands).
Further, I can’t agree with the premise of the article. I think band names like ‘Thinking Fellers Union Local 282′ are better than basic one or two word band names of the past.
“Someone Still Love You Boris Yeltsin” fits the bill. I always liked “Man…. Or Astroman?” (except for their music). I also think you are ignoring the thousands of deserving ska bands that have incorporated “ska” into their names…
I think A Simple Text File is a great song… or should I write, “song”.
