FiveThirtyEight moving to the New York Times

by E.D. Kain on June 3, 2010

Congratulations are in order to Nate Silver and the crew at FiveThirtyEight.com. The excellent polling site is leaving the indies for the Big Leagues, landing at the Gray Lady herself. This should add some excellent new flavor to the old media giant.

In other news – still no word on the future of True/Slant (and your humble author’s blog) once the acquisition by Forbes is complete. Hopefully they take a page from the New York Times and keep us mostly intact!

Nate did yeomans’s work in the 2008. His site was pretty much must-read. Definitly deserving. I hope the Grey Lady doesn’t try to hide him behind a pay wall or he’ll be smothered.

Yup 538 is an officially great site. It appears he has a sweet deal. He still has his site and ultimate ownership of what he produces but the NYT will bring him a lot more attention and give the NYT some of its luster back.

It’s good to hear that a few good bloggers are going to reach a larger audience. Good luck with the T/S deal.

Now, if say Vanity Fair wants to buy out the League, I say we hold out until we can get Annie Leibowitz to do a photo shoot of the writers here.
